posted on by Egan Loo
Nahoko Uehashi, the creator of the novels that inspired Production I.G's Kemono no Sou-ja Erin and Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit fantasy anime series, is ending the Kemono no Sou-ja (The Beast Player) story with two novel volumes in August 10. The third volume will be subtitled Tankyū-hen (The Quest Arc), while the four volume will be subtitled Kanketsu-hen (The Final Arc, pictured at right). The story of these last two volumes is set 11 years after the first two volumes which inspired the anime.
Over 700,000 copies of the first two novel volumes have been sold since they were released in 2006. Itoe Takemoto launched a manga version on Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine in 2008, and the NHK-Educational channel premiered Production I.G's anime version in January. Cartoon Network is running the Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit anime on American television, while Arthur E. Levine/Scholastic Books published the first volume of the Seirei no Moribito novels last June.
