The official website for Yukihiko Tsutsumi's live-action film trilogy adaptation of Naoki Urasawa's 20th Century Boys suspense manga has posted a new trailer for the third film this past week. (In the linked page, wait until the introductory Flash animation ends, and then select the fourth and last item, 予告編, in the center-left menu.) The third film, 20-Seiki Shōnen Saishū-Shō: Bokura no Hata (Twentieth Century Boys the Final Chapter: Our Flag or 20th Century Boys: Part 3 - Redemption), will open in Japan on August 29. Viz Media is publishing the fourth volume of the original manga in North America next month, and its Viz Pictures affiliate announced its acquisition of all three films last month. (The full trilogy will run at New York Anime Festival in September.)
The official blog for Sensha Yoshida's Utsurun Desu. four-panel "nonsensical" gag comedy manga has posted three minutes of actual footage from the manga's animated adaptation on the YouTube website. The original manga in Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine used a stable of off-the-wall characters to tell jokes that defy logic or reasoning. The first of three monthly anime DVDs volume will ship on August 21.
