posted on by Egan Loo
San Diego's Comic-Con International (CCI) has confirmed that Masao Maruyama, the co-founder of the Madhouse anime studio, will appear at the convention on July 24 to offer a "first look at Marvel Anime." The American comic book publisher Marvel Entertainment revealed last August that that it is working with Madhouse on four series with Marvel's stable of characters. The first series of 12 30-minute episodes is slated to premiere in Japan next spring with the Iron Man and Wolverine characters.
The weekend before CCI, Maruyama is returning to Baltimore's Otakon with a new opening animation created just for this year's event in Maryland. In addition to Maruyama, CCI's July 24 panel schedule also features Oscar-winning anime director Hayao Miyazaki in the Disney: Animation Panel and American comic pioneer Stan Lee (Spider-Man, Ultimo) in the Viz Media: Shonen Jump panel.
