K-On! Gets Non-4-Panel Flashback Manga Special

Manga creator kakifly has created a one-shot K-ON! manga special for the August issue of Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Forward magazine, which shipped on Wednesday. However, unlike the regular four-panel shorts that kakifly usually draws, the one-shot manga special tells a continous story over 16 pages with varying panel layouts. The story flashes back to Mio Akiyama and Ritsu Tainaka's past when the two were friends in elementary school.
The two K-ON! anime image song CDs "sung" by Mio (Yōko Hikasa) and Yui Hirasawa (Aki Toyosaki) ranked #2 and #3 on the latest weekly CD singles chart (June 15-21) from the Oricon survey firm. They debuted on June 17 and sold 32,881 and 31,384 copies, respectively.
