Diamond Cancels Some July Manga/Anime Related Orders

Affected items are still readily available outside comic distributor's system
Diamond Comic Distributors is canceling some manga, manhwa, and anime orders — including many from Yen Press — that were intended for release in July. These items were solicited in Previews, Diamond's monthly catalog. Unlike other items that are "cancelled" by publishers so they can be re-solicited at later dates, these items are listed as "cancelled by Previews" itself.

Many of these items are readily available through other distributors. Yen Press Director Kurt Hassler told MangaBlog that the cancellations "simply means that Diamond for whatever reason has opted not to make these titles available through their service. The books are all still very much being published, and retailers have the option of ordering them directly through Hachette Book Group or through any number of other wholesalers like Ingram or Baker & Taylor."

Diamond had changed its purchase order policies for publishers in January. With certain exceptions, all publishers must now demonstrate that an item can recoup US$2,500 in Diamond's costs in a month for the item to be included in Diamond's system. Soon after the change, Diamond had begun canceling orders that were intended for release in March.
