Tomehane! Suzuri Kōkō Shodōbu Manga Gets Drama Series
posted on by Egan Loo
A hiring ad for acting extras has revealed that Katsutoshi Kawai's Tomehane! Suzuri Kōkō Shodōbu manga is being adapted into a live-action drama series. The manga centers around Yukari Ōe, a girl who returns to Japan from Canada and finds herself joining her new high school's calligraphy club; without enough students, the tiny club is in danger of being abolished. Shooting of the scenes with the hired extras will take place on June 16 and 19.
The manga began in Shogakukan's Weekly Young Sunday magazine in 2007, although it migrated to Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine last September after Young Sunday ended publication in July. Five compiled book volumes have been published, and the manga has been nominated for both the 1st and 2nd Manga Taisho prizes.
