posted on by Egan Loo
Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: The South Korean publisher Dasan Books has shipped The Obama Story, the first in a series of manhwa (Korean graphic novel) biographies, in the United States in the middle of May. The Amazon retailer provides a preview of the first pages from the book that T.S. Lee wrote and illustrated for Dasan's Great Hero line. The book follows United States President Barack Obama's life from his Hawaiian childhood to the 2008 presidential election. Janet Jaywan Shin translated the book, which was initially slated for April before being delayed, from Korean into English. J.E Chae and Brittany Pogue-Mohammed edited the book on behalf of Joyful Stories Press, Dasan's new American imprint located in New Jersey.
Dasan plans to publish 50 Great Hero manhwa biographies in 18 months, including books for Charles Darwin, Martin Luther King, Jr., Oprah Winfrey, Hillary Clinton, and Bill Gates.
