Lyricist Ryoji Sonoda Gets Suspended Term for Drugs

Lyricist Ryoji Sonoda has pleaded guilty on Friday to the use of illegal stimulants and received an 18-month sentence, suspended for three years. Sonoda, whose real given name is Toshitaka, wrote songs for the musical artists BoA and SMAP, but he also wrote songs for Amatsuki, Rosario + Vampire, and other anime projects. Sonoda is accused of using the drugs on April 22, on the basis of a urinalysis test.
