posted on by Egan Loo
France's Annecy, the world's largest animation film festival, has confirmed that its premiere of Takeshi Koike and Madhouse's Redline anime has been cancelled. The 90-minute film was previously slated to compete in the Feature Film category of the June 8-13 event. The story follows the intertwined journeys of competitors in the deadliest car-racing game in the world. Japanimerica author and Daily Yomiuri columnist Roland Kelts reported on Saturday that Koike is now aiming "for a possible premiere at the Locarno International Film Festival in August."
Koike is best known for directing the "World Record" short in The Animatrix anthology. He also directed the Trava video and served as a key animator on Dead Leaves, Samurai Champloo, and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.
