Police in Tokyo's Nerima Ward arrested a 26-year-old unemployed woman named Yumi Hara on April 10 for allegedly stealing about 800 pages of original art from the late Masamichi Yokoyama's Yaruki Manman erotic manga. The authorities say that the suspect acknowledged that she "did it because she wanted the money." According to the police investigation, the suspect broke into the office of Yokoyama Production at the end of December 2007. The 800 pages of original art for the manga are valued at 4 million yen (about US$40,600). The suspect had brought a portion of the original drawings to a used book store in Jinbōcho, the Tokyo neighborhood known for having many similar stores.
Toei Animation adapted the manga into an adult video anime series from 1989 to 1990.
