Obata to Resume We Were There Romance Manga in June
posted on by Egan Loo
The May issue of Shogakukan's Betsucomi shōjo magazine announced on Monday that Yuuki Obata will resume her We Were There (Bokura ga Ita) romance manga in the July issue in June. The story follows a girl named Nanami Takahashi as she struggles with her relationship with Motoharu Yano, her high school's most popular boy who has his own issues from his past. The series has been on an 18-month hiatus since the January 2008 issue, which was released in December of 2007.
Viz Media will publish the fourth of the 12 current volumes next month. The manga was also animated on Japanese television in 2006. As part of the lead-up campaign to We Were There's return, Shogakukan is republishing several of Obata's previous works (Sumire wa Blue, Kimi no Kachi, Maru sankaku Shikaku, Suki Kirai Suki) in new editions in Japan this spring. The current May issue of Betsucomi has a Bokura ga Ita Special Book supplement that reviews the story and characters. The supplemental book also republishes three installments that have not been published in the official compiled volumes yet.
