Kimagure Orange Road Manga to Return in One-Shot Story
posted on by Egan Loo
This year's ninth issue of Shueisha's Super Jump magazine has announced on Wednesday that Izumi Matsumoto's Kimagure Orange Road romantic comedy will return in a reprint of a one-shot "Panic in Sentō!" ("Panic in the Bathouse!") manga in the next issue on April 22. The 25-page short story originally ran in Matsumoto's Comic On CD-ROM series and in Super Jump in 1996, and later in black-and-white in a smaller 1998 reprint edition of the original manga. Like the first version in Comic On, this month's reprint will be in full color.
The original Kimagure Orange Road manga series ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1984 to 1987. It followed a boy with supernatural powers as he dealt with a love triangle between two girls in his high school. The manga inspired a popular 1987-1988 television anime series, two movies, and various anime videos. AnimEigo released the television anime series, the first movie, and the later video anime series, while ADV Films handled the second movie.
