Maki Minami's Special A Manga to End in Japan in March (Updated)

posted on by Egan Loo

This year's 7th issue of Hakusensha's Hana to Yume shōjo magazine has announced on Thursday that Maki Minami's S.A (Special A) manga will end in the next issue on March 19. The story centers around Hikari, a girl who invariably falls to second place below her childhood rival Kei in every academic and sports matchup at their elite academy. Despite Hikari's obsessive, competitive spirit, Kei loves Hikari, and everyone knows it but Hikari. The 16th volume of the manga ships in Japan this month, while Viz Media is publishing the ninth volume in North America also this month. The manga was adapted into a television anime series last year.

Two new manga titles are starting in the same magazine in the next issue. Satoshi Morie is launching Love Sick (pictured at far left), a school story about a boy named Natsu with a bishōjo face and a mysterious ailment. Touya Tobina is launching the Jiujiu fantasy manga series (center left) after the story first appeared as a one-shot manga in Hana to Yume in December. This "rhapsody of swords and fangs that cleave the darkness" centers around the deepening bonds between a girl and two werewolves.

Update: Like Jiujiu, Love Sick had a limited run in the magazine in 2008 that already ended. The new serialization is its regular series run. Thanks, Rishu.
