Kunio Katō's Oscar-Nominated Anime Now in U.S. iTunes

"Le Maison en Petits Cubes," Kunio Katō's 12-minute animated short that has been nominated for an Academy Award, is now available for download on iTunes. Previously, American viewers could only see it as a part of Magnolia Pictures' The Oscar® Nominated Short Films 2009 program, which is playing in select cities.

The short has already won awards at animated film festivals in Nagasaki, Japan, and Annecy, France. It depicts an old man who builds and explores new rooms as the rest of his house is being consumed by a rising tide. It is the second Japanese project nominated for the Best Short Film, Animated award; the first was Koji Yamamura's "Mt. Head" in 2003.
