Chun-Li Film Double-Billed with Sakura Anime in Japan
posted on by Egan Loo
The official Japanese website for the Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li film announced last month that a new anime short story will screen exclusively with the film in Japan. The story will center on Sakura, the popular high school girl character from the fighting game franchise. Executive supervisor Kōji Morimoto worked with his Animatrix animators at Studio 4°C on the short, which will run immediately after the actual feature ends. The live-action feature and the anime short will open in Japan on February 28.
Morimoto and Studio 4°C also produced the in-game anime footage in the Street Fighter IV game and the separate Street Fighter IV: The Ties That Bind original animation DVD that was bundled with the game's limited edition packages. The home console version of Street Fighter IV and its tie-in anime video shipped worldwide this month.
