Canada's St. Onge to Sing Valkyria Anime's Theme Song
posted on by Christopher Macdonald
Canada's Catherine St. Onge will sing the theme song for the television anime adaptation of Sega's Valkyria Chronicles (Senjō no Valkyria -Gallian Chronicles-) game. Despite a competitive field of 3,186 entrants, St. Onge had won the 2nd All-Japan Anison Grand Prix singing contest that Jupiter Telecommunications and the Animax anime television channel ran last September. St. Onge will sing the Valkyria theme under her new stage name, HIMEKA. Shintarō Tokita of the J-pop duo Sukima Switch (Tokyo Marble Chocolate) will produce the song.
Animax's spinoff anime studio, A-1 Pictures, is producing the anime for a planned April premiere. A unit in Sega had once developed Sakura Wars under its former name, Overworks, before creating the original Valkyria Chronicles game. The story is set in the wartorn country of Gallia in a fictional version of 1930s Europe. The Famitsu game news source posted key visual images for the three main characters on Monday. More character art is available on the official website.
The prize of the All-Japan Anison Grand Prix contest is a professional debut with a theme song for an Animax anime project; the first contest winner, Shuhei Kita, sang the "Breakin' Through" opening song for the Persona -trinity soul- anime series. Kita has since sung the "Issei no Sei" opening theme for the ongoing Natsume Yūjin-Chō anime series.
