Japanese Anime TV Ranking, December 29-January 4

A special year-end marathon of the live-action drama adaptation of Kozueko Morimoto's Gokusen school comedy manga took four spots on the top 10 television drama chart in Japan from December 29 to January 4. The December 30 episodes earned a 9.5 rating in the first three and a half hours, and a 9.9 rating in the last three hours. The marathon ended on December 31 with 10.7 and 12.7 ratings. NHK's annual Kōhaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Song Battle) singing competition, which was co-hosted by Gokusen star Yukie Nakama, ranked as the most-watched program of the week with a 35.7 rating in the first half and a 42.1 rating in the second.
The final episode of the live-action television drama adaptation of Masanori Morita's Rookies manga earned a 9.5 rating when it reran on December 31 at 2:30 p.m. Two weeks after the third movie based on Tite Kubo's Bleach manga opened in Japanese theaters, the original Bleach the Movie: Memories of Nobody reran on television on January 3 at 8:00 a.m. It earned a 2.4 rating.
