USA Today Booklist, December 22-28: Naruto Returns
posted on by Mikhail Koulikov
As expected, the new thirty-third volume of Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto manga (Viz Media), which was officially released on December 23, sold well enough to rank #104 on the USA Today newspaper's list of the top 150 bestselling books for December 22 to December 28. As has been often the case over the last several months, it was the only Japanese comic that made the weekly list, and its appearance ended a three-week period in which there were no manga among the top 150 titles.
The preceding volume 32 opened in the #123 position in its first week of release in October. The volume before that, volume 31, debuted extremely strongly, immediately taking the #24 spot. Throughout 2008, new Naruto volumes have been on a bimonthly release schedule. The next one is due in February, when Viz will begin its campaign of 11 Naruto manga volumes in three months.
