Bo-bobo's Sawai Ends Chagecha Manga after 8 Issues
posted on by Egan Loo
This year's 49th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine has published the final installment of Yoshio Sawai's Chagecha gag comedy manga — a mere eight weeks after the series started. It is unusual for a new series from a creator of another popular manga (Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo) to have such a quick, unplanned ending. Weekly Shonen Jump serialized Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo from 2001 to 2007. Chagecha had just begun on September 13, but readers noted that Chagecha quickly moved from the front half of the magazine to the back half. A manga titles's position in a magazine's pages is often an indication of its relative popularity among the other titles.
Viz Media published selected stories from Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo in North America, and the Cartoon Network's Toonami programming block ran the television anime version between 2005 and 2007.
