Anime Nominated for TV DVD Awards
posted on by Egan Loo
Funimation has announced that three of its anime DVD releases — and one of Anchor Bay's anime series (through Manga Entertainment and Bandai Entertainment) — have been nominated for the Fifth Annual TV DVD Awards. A panel of judges nominated Funimation's Dragon Ball Z: Season 5, Hell Girl Vol. 5, and One Piece: Season 1 First Voyage in the Best International TV DVD category along with BBC Video's Torchwood: Season 1. Anchor Bay's Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG is vying for the Best Animated TV DVD honor against Family Guy Presents: Blue Harvest, Futurama: The Beast With a Billion Backs, and Robot Chicken: Star Wars.
The awards are presented by Home Media Magazine in cooperation with DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group and the Entertainment Merchants Association. Anyone can vote for the final winners through a online form. The organizers emphasize that the choices should be made "not just on the actual show, but also on the DVD treatment — special features, menus, ease of navigation, packaging, sound and picture, etc."
