posted on by Egan Loo
The North American anime distributor Bandai Entertainment has revealed at New York Anime Festival 2008 on Friday that it cancelled the original English-language releases of the sola and True Tears anime series due to licensing issues, but replaced them with DVD boxes through its Anime Legends label. The sola anime will ship with all 13 television episodes and two video episodes with Japanese dialogue and English subtitles for US$44.98. The entire True Tears series will ship with Japanese dialogue and English subtitles for US$39.98.
Bandai Visual USA, another Namco Bandai Group company that was folded into Bandai Entertainment's Honneamise label, had announced in January and February that it would release those two series and Shigofumi - Letters from the Departed this year. Bandai Visual USA then announced in March that it postponed all three series. There is no new word on the status of Shigofumi.
