The Japanese publisher Square Enix has announced that it will launch a free web magazine called Gangan Online for manga and light novels in October. The magazine will feature the "nightmarish" debut of Hiroyuki Etō's new manga spinoff about his Mahōjin Guru Guru fantasy comedy character, Kita Kita. Akira Kojima, the creator of the Mahoraba manga, will also launch Wa!, his latest manga work. Akira Kanda, the manga artist for the Star Ocean: Till the End of Time and Shining Tears role-playing games, will draw Shikisō about two detectives who tackle difficult cases. Kiki Suihei (Omakase! Sayana no Moero-Bu) will debut Ai wa Noroi no Nihon Ningyō (Ai/Love is a Cursed Japanese Doll). Maru-Mikan will contribute Seito-kai no Ota no Shimi about an all-otaku group of student class representatives, and Ichi Saeki will draw the Kyō mo Machiwabite four-panel manga. The website promises one more manga title that will be announced later.
The magazine will also have new light novels, as well as side stories and illustrations from manga titles that have already been published in other Square Enix magazines. The manga cameos will include Yoshiichi Akahito's Shikabane Hime, Yana Toboso's Kuroshitsuji, Makoto Kubota's Tentai Senshi Sunred, Kiichi Hotta's Kimi to Boku, and Ayami Kazama's Chokotto Hime. The first three of these manga titles are being animated for television starting this October.
