Makoto Kobayashi marks mag's anniversary with Seishun Shōnen Magazine 1978–1983
Makoto Kobayashi, the artist behind What's Michael? and Club 9, will launch a "true-story" manga next week about being a manga creator 25 years ago in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine. The Seishun Shōnen Magazine 1978–1983 manga will mark the 50th anniversary of the magazine by recounting Kobayashi's experiences working alongside Osamu Tezuka (Astro Boy, Jungle Emperor/Kimba the White Lion, Metropolis), Ikki Kajiwara (Ashita no Joe, Kyojin no Hoshi, Tiger Mask), and others. This new serialization of short stories will be Kobayashi's first appearance in the magazine in 25 years. It will launch in this year's 36th issue of the magazine on August 6.
Dark Horse Comics published What's Michael? and Club 9 in North America.
