Otakon to Host Sailor Moon Designer, Animation Director

Otakon has announced that it will host Kazuko Tadano and Hiromi Matsushita, the married couple who designed and animated the first two Sailor Moon series and other projects, at the August 8-10 event at Baltimore, Maryland. In addition to drawing the character designs for Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon R, Tadano also designed the characters for Wedding Peach, Dancougar - Super Beast Machine God, Crystal Triangle, and Petite Princess Yucie. Tadano's husband, Matsushita, oversaw the animation in episodes of Sailor Moon as well as in the 1980 Astro Boy anime series, Guyver: Out of Control, Kingyo Chūihō!, and Madō King Granzort. Matsushita has also worked on Keroro Gunsō (Sgt. Frog). Tadano and Matsushita have appeared as guests in earlier North American conventions, but this year will be their first time at Otakon.
Otakon also recently announced the addition of the Kano Sisters, Kyoko Kano and Mika Kano, to its guest roster. The two models have become media personalities ever since they gained celebrity status in the late 1990s in Japan.
