The
Publishers Weekly trade magazine has
posted its interview with
Yukari Shiina, a literary agent who brings international artists into the manga publishing industry in Japan. Shiina translated American comics, including
Fred Gallagher's
Megatokyo, for Japanese
release and
co-judged Kodansha's Morning International Manga Competition. She has since helped bring
Pipochū, an upcoming manga by
Felipe Smith (MBQ), to
Kodansha's
Morning 2 magazine
this month. In the interview, Shiina described the mission of her World Manga agency and the state of the manga industry for international artists. She also explained what her agency does for artists and how artists can
contact it.
