First Official Slam Dunk Uniforms for Sale in Japan
posted on by Egan Loo
Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: Toei Animation has announced the first official replica uniforms for Takehiko Inoue's popular Slam Dunk basketball manga and anime series. The uniforms of the main character Hanamichi Sakuragi (Shohoku High School) and his rivals Shinichi Maki (Kainan) and Akira Sendoh (Ryonan) are included in the three upcoming Slam Dunk DVD Collections this year. However, people can also buy the uniforms separately through Toei Video's online store. The store is exclusively offering jerseys of 12 different characters in two sizes (Japanese regular and large) for 10,290 yen each (about US$98.83). Pre-order reservations started on May 23, and the deadlines for placing orders are August 31 for the first batch and October 31 for the second batch.
Viz Media will begin publishing the manga in North America this September. Toei itself released part of the anime series in North America before pulling out of the region.
Update: Viz Media's Shonen Jump magazine is also serializing Slam Dunk now. Thanks, Strephon.
