Haruhi Lookalike Appears on Belarusian Waffle Packaging (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: A Belarusian chocolate waffle called "Yulechka" has emblazoned its packaging with a mascot character that looks strikingly similar to the title character of Nagaru Tanigawa and Noizi Ito's Haruhi Suzumiya light novels and later anime adaptation. Nicknames like "Haruhinov," "Haruhichov," "Haruhikov Dekovitch," and "Haruhinikov Uchūjinsky" have already appeared online in Japan.

Update: The newAkiba.com site contains graphically explicit imagery in unrelated advertising. The article has been corrected to reflect the fact that the item is a Belarusian waffle from the company MINSKHLEBPROM, and not a Russian candy as the Japanese source described. Thanks, roxfan.
