Nico Nico Anime Channel Opens for Original Net Anime

The Nico Nico Douga video-streaming website has officially opened its Nico Nico Anime Channel for the Candy Boy and Penguin Girl Heart (Penguin Musume ♥ Heart ) original net animation series. Free Japanese registration is required to watch videos on Nico Nico Douga, but the service otherwise has no territorial restrictions. Currently, the channel has the first episode of Candy Boy, and it will have all the episodes as they premiere online. AIC announced more episodes of the series in February. The story centers on twin sisters, Kanade and Yukino Sakurai, and a scheming rich freshman in their Tokyo high school named Sakuya Kamiyama.
The channel will also host the Penguin Girl Heart comedy series, but it currently only has the video of the March event that announced the production. The actual anime, which adapts Tetsuya Takahashi's Penguin Girl manga, will premiere on April 19. The story centers on Sakura, the 14-year-old daughter of the rich Nankyoku family, and her classmates. Since "Nankyoku" happens to be Japanese for Antarctica and Sakura happens to be an Akihabara otaku (she transferred to her new school while wearing full cosplay gear), she earns the nicknames "Penguin" and "A-Girl."
