Gokusen's Morimoto to Start Deka Wanko Detective Manga
posted on by Egan Loo
Artist Kozueko Morimoto (Gokusen) will launch a new detective comedy manga called Deka Wanko (Detective Puppy) in this year's eighth issue (on sale on April 1) of Shueisha's You magazine. (In the linked page, select the second to last item in the lefthand column.) The new title will star Ichiko Hanamori, a rookie inspector, as she solves "hilarious and (probably) real case files."
You magazine carried Morimoto's most popular work, the Gokusen yakuza school comedy manga, from 2000 until last year. The Gokusen manga has yet to be published in North America, but Media Blasters released the anime version, and California's KSCI television station aired the live-action drama adaptation.
The same issue of You magazine will also feature Pokka Poka Omedetō, a one-shot manga from Jun Fukami (WARU). (In the linked page, select the last item in the lefthand column.) The 51- page story will cover the particularly memorable events of one couple's wedding day.
