President of Otakorp Resigns
posted on by Mikhail Koulikov
Otakorp, Inc., the not-for-profit organization that runs the Otakon anime convention, has announced that its president has resigned. Sam Dang made the decision on January 26 for unspecified personal reasons. Until a new president is elected, Otakorp's vice president, Alice Volkmar, will hold the office.
Previously, the Otakorp president, who is elected annually, also served as the chairman of the convention. For the 2008 con, the offices were split for the first time as Dang appointed Sean Chiochankitmun, who was the 2007 president/chair, to run it again.
With almost 23,000 paid attendees in 2007, Otakon is North America's second-largest anime convention. This year, it will once again be held at the Baltimore Convention Center in downtown Baltimore, Maryland on August 8-10.
