Japanese Box Office, January 5–6

Eiga de Tōjō! Tamagotchi Doki Doki! Uchū no Maigotchi!? (Appearing on Film! Tamagotchi!: Lost in Space!?), the first feature-length film based on the toys that spawned the virtual pet fad, rose one spot back up to #7 in a weekend with no major new movies opening. It earned the equivalent of US624,817 (Box Office Mojo) in its fourth weekend to add to its US$5,964,012
total so far. Bleach: The DiamondDust Rebellion - Mō Hitotsu no Hyōrinmaru, Noriyuki Abe's second film based on the Bleach television anime series and manga, fell again from the #5 spot to #7 in its third weekend. It added US$543,318 to its US$5,686,668 gross-to-date. Always Zoku San-chōme no Yūhi (Always: Sunset on Third Street 2), Takashi Yamazaki's second film based on Ryōhei Saigan's Sanchoume no Yuuhi - Yuuyake no Uta post-war slice-of-life manga, stays at #8 in its 10th weekend. The hit movie took in an additional US$565,176 for a US$38,569,799 total haul. (Remaining on top of the chart for a fourth weekend is Francis Lawrence's American film I am Legend, starring Will Smith.)
