Anonymous Author to Reveal Death Note Spinoff's Story
posted on by Egan Loo
The Japanese publisher Shueisha is publishing the novelization of the Death Note spinoff film, L change the WorLd, on December 25 — six weeks before the film's February 9 opening. Since Tsugumi Ooba and Takeshi Obata's original Death Note manga focused on the character Light and his controversial use of the lethal Death Note book, the spinoff movie's official website said on Friday that a "famous writer" was hired to conceive the spinoff's entirely original story about the final 23 days of Light's foil, the genius detective L.
Under the penname "M," the anonymous author will reveal the plot details of the spinoff movie in the novelization and include an interview and color photographs of L's actor, Ken'ichi Matsuyama. The "M" penname stands for "the place where people who used the Death Note go: the void (mu)."
