Theatrical Play of 3 Tezuka Stories to Premiere in DC
posted on by Egan Loo
Georgetown University's Theater and Performance Studies program will premiere Trees and Ghosts, Natsu Onoda's theatrical adaptation of three stories by manga pioneer Osamu Tezuka, at the Washington, D.C. school's Davis Performing Arts Center on November 8 -17. The multimedia production will feature interactive video, live on-stage drawing, and taiko drums. Onoda, a visiting assistant professor of the program, has adapted Tezuka's work before and is planning an 2008 English-language book on him. Her play is inspired by three Tezuka stories (as yet untranslated into English) about spirits, elements of nature, and memories of World War II. Thanks, Christopher Wanamaker.
