Human-Sized Evangelion Spear Exhibited, Auctioned
posted on by Egan Loo
Tokyo's J-Art Project is hosting "imagination of Evangelion," an July 21-August 3 art exhibition with a human-sized Spear of Longinus and other displays based on the Neon Genesis Evangelion psychological drama anime franchise. As inspired by a crucial element in the anime storyline, the 28-kg (62-pound) double-helixed spear extends more than two meters (seven feet). The organization plans to auction the spear later.
The Japanese exhibition also features a display of food on a dish modeled after the amputated body of the Lilith angel and surrounded by smaller Spear of Longinus utensils. The displays are divided into four zones: the "Eva at Work" display by Gallery Point, the Evangelion Store, the "Evangelion inspired - new generation" display by students who entered Bandai Visual's design competition, and the "Evangelion inspired - professional designers" display of items from the development of merchandise.
