posted on by Egan Loo
Shinichi Chiba, better known to international audiences as Sonny Chiba, announced on July 16 that his body is no longer fit to play the action roles that made him famous. Therefore, he will use a new name for future roles, and he hopes to search with Hong Kong martial arts star Jackie Chan for a successor to "inherit" his name. Chiba starred as the title lead in the Golgo 13: The Kowloon Assignment manga-to-film adaptation as well as in cameos in Battle Royale II: Requiem, Kill Bill, and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. However, he is best known worldwide for playing historical icons such as Hanzō Hattori and Jūbei Yagyū as well as fighting masters in over a hundred films. Source: Sankei Sports
