Stamps featuring Future Boy Conan and Manga Japanese Folk Tales announced
The Japanese Post Office, better known as Japan Post, has announced that the next two series of their popular "Anime, Heroes, and Heroines" stamps will feature the Hayao Miyazaki television anime series Future Boy Conan and Manga Japanese Folk Tales. The stamp series has previously featured Pokémon, Gundam, Galaxy Express 999, Detective Conan, and most recently Neon Genesis Evangelion.
The Future Boy Conan stamps will be available starting June 22, while the Manga Japanese Folk Tales series will be available on February 22, 2008. Future Boy Conan, while not a Studio Ghibli production, was the first anime directed by Hayao Miyazaki. It was first broadcast in 1978 on NHK. As for the Manga Japanese Folk Tales series, no details have been announced about the manga and artwork that the stamps will utilize.
The "Anime, Heroes, and Heroines" stamp series was launched by Japan Post in 2005. Although the stamp series has been popular among stamp buyers, collectors, and customers, Japan Post has announced that the series will conclude after the eighth series is released. No announcements have been made as to which anime will be featured on the eighth and final series of stamps.
