Sequel to the first live-action Death Note film grosses over 5 billion yen
According to Warner Brothers Japan, the sequel to the first live-action Death Note film, "Death Note: The Last Name", has grossed 5.1 billion yen (over 41 million US dollars at current exchange rates) in the time period ending January 22nd. Over 4 million people saw the film.
The sequel easily surpassed the box office totals for the first film, which made 2.8 billion yen at the box office and was seen by over 2.2 million people.
