As part of their "Yokoso Japan Weeks" tourism campaign going on now through Februrary 28th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation is supporting a free tour of the Akihabara area that is available to visitors from overseas.
The tour is just one of the events and attractions listed on the Akihabara Tour website, which is also supported by a number of Japanese travel agencies. The walking tour includes stops at Radio Kaikan, the high-tech UDX Building, and the Tokyo Anime Center.
The "Yokoso Japan Weeks" campaign began on January 19th and also offers discounts to foreign guests to Japan at a number of popular destinations, such as museums and onsens (hot spring resorts). More information about these events can be found on the website for the campaign, found here.
