The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya ending theme makes it into nation-wide chart
Hare Hare Yukai, the ending theme of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya ending theme, ranked #5 on the weekly Oricon chart for last week.
The Oricon article mentions the aggressive fan-campaign that pushed the single up the charts. According to Oricon, 34,881 copies of the CD have sold since it's release on May 10.
Oricon only tracks sales at major brick and mortar music outlets. It does not track sales though online retailers like Amazon.co.jp or niche market retailers such as the anime shops in Akihabara.
