Dororo Live-Action Movie

Tezuka Osamu's Dororo will be adapted for a live-action film.
The budget is more than two billion yen (US$16.7 million). The production will start in January of 2006, filming will be done in New Zealand and several other places.
The film will be directed by Akihiko Shiota. It will star actor Satoshi Tsumabuki as Hyakkimaru and actress Kô Shibasaki as Dororo. The action choreographer will be Ching Siu Tung.
Dororo was originally serialised in Shogakukan's Weekly Shounen Sunday in 1967 and was adapted into a 26-episode anime TV series in 1969. In 2003 it was adapted into a PlayStation 2 game.
The film will be released in 2007 in the Tôhô circuit theatres.
