Hitoshi Takagi, Voice of "Totoro" Dies

The voice actor of "Totoro" and the restaurant owner from Itami Juzo's movie "Tanpopo", Hitoshi Takagi died yesterday from heart disease at the age of 78.
Hitoshi Takagi died yesterday, 2/11, due to partial ischemic heart disease, aged 78.
Takagi participated in the Bungakuza, including the theatrical group's "Harunatsu Akifuyu" (Spring-Summer Fall-Winter), an "irrational" play. Takagi also played the restaurant owner in Itami Juzo's film "Tanpopo".
His list of credits in anime include "Totoro" from Hayao Miyazaki's "My Neighbor Totoro", "Moomin Papa" from Moomin, and the narrator for Galaxy Express 999 (Ginga Tetsudou 999).
A funeral service will be held on the 17th at 11:30am. More information is available here (Japanese Only).
