No details available yet on release format and date

ADV has confirmed reports that they have aquired the release rights for Doomed Megalopolis, Crying Freeman and Metabots.

Anime on DVD first reported the aquisitions last week, however due to the (very) long Thanksgiving Weekend ANN was not able to confirm the aquisitions until today.

Currently no details on the release format, date and language are available for these titles.

The Medabots TV series is currently a part on Fox's saturday morning cartoon lineup. Medabots, originally called Medarot in Japan, was aquired for North American viewing by Nelvana (The same company responsible for Cardcaptors). The show, primarily geared towards 6-12 year olds and similar in style to Pokémon and Digimon, features a world where kids pit their pet robots against each other in battle.

Doomed Megalopolis was previously licenced by Streamline and released dub only on VHS. Doomed Megalopilis was also re-released on VHS by Manga Entertainment when they sub-licenced the rights from Orion Home Entertainmnet. Doomed Megalopolis is a four part OVA series directed by Rin Taro and based on Hiroshi Aramata's classic horror novel.

Crying Freeman is a five part OVA series based on the Manga series by Kazuo Koike and Ryōichi Ikegami. The Manga is available in English from Viz. Like Doomed Megalopolis, Crying Freeman was a part of the Streamline catalog of titles.

In addition to the Crying Freeman manga and Anime there is also a live action Crying Freeman film scripted and directed by French director Christophe Gans.
