Anime String Quartet Concert in London on February 3

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Event will be on a Saturday at EartH Theatre, near Dalton Kingsland Theatre, at 8 p.m.

There will be a live string quartet concert of anime music on Saturday February 3 (8 p.m.), at the EartH (Evolutionary Arts Hackney) Theatre, near Dalton Kingsland station. (There is a map at the link.) The music will be performed by the City String Ensemble and is entitled "City String Ensemble: Best of Anime." The quartet has released a 19-minute "Best of Anime" EP on Spotify.

This event was previously scheduled for December 3 2023 at the same venue, but it was postponed due to rail strikes and venue policies on audience numbers. It is described as follows:

"Titled 'Best of Anime,' this performance is not your typical classical concert. While it features a string quartet playing classical instruments, the programme has been meticulously curated to capture the spirit of anime music with the inclusion of our highly regarded anime opening theme string covers (like Pokémon) and the iconic Studio Ghibli soundtrack music (Spirited Away etc.). This fusion aims to bridge the gap between two seemingly disparate worlds, appealing not only to classical music enthusiasts but also to a younger, vibrant anime-loving audience. It is part of our vision as an ensemble to combine classical performance with music from modern culture and our more inclusive and informal performance style is a feature or our concerts. "

The performance will last approximately two hours, with a twenty-minute interval. Attendees must be over 16, and under-18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult over 21.

A programme teaser says the event will include music from Cowboy Bebop, Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke and more. In addition, there will be a section of the concert where the audience can vote on which songs are performed.
