How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift? Anime's Theme Songs Get 'Muscle Videos'

Professional wrestler Reika Saiki, bodybuilder Naotaka Yokokawa,

This season's How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift? anime follows one girl's quest to get fit by summer with absolutely no knowledge on how to properly exercise. Her voice actress Ai Fairouz helped demonstrate in a series of gym videos with trainer and entertainer Kin'nikun Nakayama. The series is continuing to promote buff muscles in its theme song videos.

The video for the opening theme "Onegai Muscle" by Ai Fairouz and Kaito Ishikawa stars "muscle idol" and professional wrestler Reika Saiki and bodybuilder Naotaka Yokokawa working out together. At the end of the video, Saiki notices an advertisement for a muscle maid cafe.

The ending theme "Macho Anemu?" by Kaito Ishikawa is set to a dance routine performed by the comedic dance unit Neta.CO. The troupe is led by husband and wife team Steve Jean and Koume. Jean admits on the page that he "can't dance" while Koume is an instructor at a pole dance studio. The team also includes twin sisters and theme park entertainers Sawori and Shiwori, dancer Marina, and "grandma cosplay dancer" Yasuyo Tamura.

The series premiered on July 3. The "body-building comedy" centers around Hibiki, a high school girl who loves eating, and Akemi, the beautiful and charismatic student council president who has a muscle fetish.

Funimation is streaming the series as it airs in Japan.

Sandrovich and MAAM, a relatively new manga artist, launched the manga on Shogakukan's web manga site Ura Sunday and on Shogakukan's Manga ONE app in 2016. Shogakukan published the sixth volume in January, and the seventh will ship on June 19. Seven Seas Entertainment will publish the first manga volume in English on November 19.
