Machimaho Manga Artist Souryu Asks English Readers to Buy Official Releases

posted on by Kim Morrissy

Machimaho: I Messed Up and Made the Wrong Person Into a Magical Girl! artist Souryu personally asked for English readers on Twitter to purchase the official English translation published by Seven Seas.

"I have a favor to everyone in the English-speaking world," they wrote. "My Manga 'MACHIMAHO' is officially translated version published. Please purchase an official book, not an unofficial one you translated without permission. You can purchase on Amazon."

Souryu interacted with readers on Twitter, urging against the use of scanslations as a whole.

The first English volume released in October, 2018. Seven Seas describes the series as follows:

High school delinquent Majiba Kayo is a sweet looking girl - until she opens her mouth. Accidentally turned into a magical girl, this class-skipping and chain-smoking ass-kicker isn't afraid to put her fist where her mouth is! Saving the world from evil is tough, but when you don't want to do it, it's even tougher. Kayo, along with her magical guide Myu and eternal 3rd year henchman Rei work together in fighting off the evil beasts known as atasunmos, while still looking cool as hell.

Souryu's Twitter thread follows last year's request by Gangsta.'s Kohske. Kohske wrote on Twitter in October, in English, that scans rob her of her income and steal ad revenue from her publisher. She added that if she cannot earn money from her manga, she'll have to quit. Gujira, an erotic manga artist (Gal toka Bitch toka Iroiro), also vented frustration against illegal downloads of their work and manga creator Gaku Kuze posted a special Uramichi Oniisan manga chapter last year about illegally distributing manga.
