Monogatari Series' Countdown is for 10th Anniversary Event

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The official website for the franchise based on NisiOisin's Monogatari Series light novels revealed its earlier countdown was for a 10th anniversary event. The supernatural anime series will be honored at the Makuhari Messe event hall in Chiba on May 11.

The one-night celebration will include attendance by the series' main cast and promises performances and music for the audience to enjoy.

Tickets are limited. Fans who want to make it out to the show will need to first submit the priority ticket sale applications attached to the Zoku Owarimonogatari home video releases. Tickets are 8,800 yen each (US$80).

NisiOisin's Monogatari Series novels began with Bakemonogatari in 2006. The novel series' "final season" ended with Zoku Owarimonogatari in September 2014, but it featured a teaser for "Monogatari Series, Next Season Tsugimonogatari." Four "Off Season" novels — Orokamonogatari, Wazamonogatari, Nademonogatari, and Musubimonogatarishipped in 2015 and 2016. The novel series' new "Monster Season" launched with the Shinobumonogatari novel in July 2017.

The novel series centers on Koyomi Araragi, a loner and failing student. One day, his classmate Hitagi Senjōgahara falls into his arms accidentally, and he discovers that Hitagi literally weighs nothing. According to her, she has had this problem since the first year of high school. After Koyomi helps out with her supernatural problem, Koyomi then meets other girls who are all troubled by some manner of supernatural "oddity."
