Pokémon's Ken Sugimori Revisits Pulseman in Illustration Video

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Before Ken Sugimori and the GAME FREAK crew created the mega-popular Pokémon franchise, the team released the action platformer Pulseman for the Sega Genesis console. The game hit shelves in Japan in 1994 and would later be released in North America via the Sega Channel, an early version of what gamers now think of as an online console store.

Since his first appearance on game consoles, Pulseman has reappeared on the Virtual Console for the Wii but hasn't made his way on to the Switch quite yet.

Ken Sugimori designed and directed Pulseman and revisited his old friend in a new illustration video streaming on GAME FREAK's YouTube channel.

Sugimori would go on to create Pokémon with a number of the Pulseman staff, including designer Satoshi Tajiri and and composer Junichi Masuda.
