Manga Artist Yutaka Abe Exhibition Offers Special Case Closed Production Insight

posted on by Victor Chaves
Step into the world of Yutaka Abe

A special exhibition starring Yutaka Abe's work titled “Abe Yutaka's World” is on display in a museum his hometown of Shinjō, in Yamagata prefecture. He is best known for working with famed manga artist Gōshō Aoyama, who created Case Closed (Detective Conan).

Abe created some of the extra side stories for the Detective Conan Special manga series. The pair met during college and became friends through the social circles and interests they shared. As the years passed, Abe drew several covers of the Detective Conan novels, and has gone on to create his own works, including the Dragon Quest manga Dragon Quest Seirei Rubisu Densetsu.

The Shinjō Mogami Museum was founded to celebrate the best in manga, and this event will commemorate the museum's two-year anniversary. In addition, much like the Detective Conan side stories, Gōshō Aoyama and Yutaka Abe collaborated by providing the notes they made when working on Detective Conan Special to the exhibition. On top of that, Yutaka Abe plans to make an appearance at the event on December 29 from 1:20 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The exhibition is running from December 21, 2018 to March 3, 2019.
