Fan Captures All 151 Original Pokémon Plushes—For US$1,600

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

As part of the wider promotion for the Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu!/Eevee Nintendo Switch games, the official Pokémon Centers in Japan are focusing on the original 151 Pokémon from the Red, Blue, Green and Yellow games. There's a certain charm about the Generation I monsters that many players grew up capturing and training in hopes of defeating the Elite 4. Pokémon fans will get to revisit that experience during the latest campaign or even take home their winning team in plush form.

One visitor wasn't satisfied with simply five Pokémon. Twitter user Sekai decided to fill up their entire Pokédex in one go by taking home all 151 original Pokémon plushes. There's no telling how each Pokémon made it home from the store, that is unless they had each shipped to them, but the whole crew takes up most of Sekai's bed. The price is pretty steep, too. Sekai wrote that it cost them about 180,000 yen or US$1,600.

Each plush is up for sale at the Pokémon Center's official website for 1,188 yen (US$10.50) each. Customers who order online will receive their new friends in a limited edition shipping box featuring one of the original Pokémon. The plushes and boxes are part of the overall "My 151" campaign that launched on Friday.

Besides the merchandise and boxes, fans can also enter to win prizes via Twitter by writing pretty much anything about the original 151 Pokémon with the hashtags #My151 and the Pokémon's name. Users must also follow the @poke_times Twitter account. Entries will be accepted until March 3, 2019. Players can show their Tweet at the Pokémon Center checkout to get a free sticker.

The campaign will introduce more merchandise as time goes on. There's already a landing page specially for Christmas items.
