Pokémon TCG Partners With Art Exhibition to Recreate Munch's The Scream Painting

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The Pokémon Trading Card Game is collaborating with the "Munch: A Retrospecitve" exhibition, which will run at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum from October 27 to January 20. Edvard Munch's famous painting The Scream is getting the Pokémon treatment and transforming into promo cards.

The promo cards feature the creatures Pikachu, Eevee, Mimikyu, Psyduck, and Rowlet in the position of the screamer in Munch's classic creation. The featured Pokémon also appear as shadowy figures behind the screamer on the bridge. The only move on the cards is "Scream," which confuses all the opponent's Pokémon in battle.

A mini card file with the Pikachu and Eevee illustrations will be available for purchase at the exhibition shop and also through Pokémon Center Online on October 27. The card file will cost 450 yen (about US$4), and it will bundle an actual Mimikyu promo card.

Beginning on November 2, customers at Pokémon Center or Pokémon Store locations will be able to choose to receive a Psyduck, Eevee, or Rowlet promo card for each two designated expansion packs they purchase. There will be a limit of one promo card of each type per person.

Distribution details for the Pikachu promo card will be revealed in the future.
